When you buy lemons, select fruit that is heavy for its size with relatively thin skins for the most juice. Let the lemons warm to room temperature and roll them under your palm before juicing them.
Ingredients Amounts

Cold Water, divided use

6 2/3 cups
Sugar 1/2 cup
Lemon Juice 1 cup
Lemon Slices for Garnish 8
Green Food Coloring as needed
   
Method

Combine 2/3 cup of water with the sugar in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir to dissolve the sugar.

Combine the sugar-water with the lemon juice and add the 6 cups cold water. Stir to combine. Add green food coloring to achieve desired color.

Serve immediately over ice garnished with a lemon slice or store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
