Intermediate Tools CIAChef

If you already have a set of cooking tools, you may want to experiment with some of the other different gadgets that are available to make food preparation a breeze.

These are some of the tools you may need to prepare our intermediate level recipes.

Melon Baller

The parisienne scoop or melon baller comes in several sizes and is designed to make ball-shaped cuts from fruits and vegetables.

Swivel-Bladed Peeler The rotary or swivel-bladed peeler is used to peel vegetables and fruits. The swivel action accommodates the shapes of the products, and the double-sided blade allows peeling in both a downward and upward motion.
Paring Knife The paring knife is short with a blade of from 2 to 4-inches.
This is a great tool for coring fruits and vegetables.
Spatulas The palette knife or metal spatula is a flexible, round-tipped tool that's widely used in the kitchen. There is a serrated palette knife that is useful in cutting sandwiches.
Tongs Tongs of varying lengths are seen everywhere in a professional kitchen and are probably the most used item by the cooking staff.
Sauce Pot The largest pot in the kitchen is a stock pot. The next smaller pot is the saucepot, similar in shape to the stockpot, with two loop handles.

The saucepot may have straight or slightly flared sides and has a single long handle.
