Yield: 1 half-sheet pan

Ingredients Amounts
walnuts 3 cups
phyllo dough 20 sheets
butter, melted 1 3/4 cups
sugar 1/3 cup
ground cinnamon 1 tsp.
   
Baklava Syrup  
sugar 2 cups
water 1 cup
light corn syrup 3/4 cup
honey 3/4 cup
   
Method

1. Using a half sheet pan, brush the bottom and sides with melted butter.

2. Lay down one layer of the phyllo dough, brush it with melted butter.

3. Keep layering the phyllo and butter for a total of 7 sheets.

4. Sprinkle layer of walnut cinn/sugar mix on the sheets.

5. Layer 3 more sheets on top.

6. Sprinkle layer of walnut cinn/sugar mix on the sheets.

7. Layer 3 more sheets on top

8. Sprinkle layer of walnut cinn/sugar mix on the sheets.

9. Layer 7 phyllo sheets to make a top layer for the half pan.

10. Brush the top layer with butter.

11. Place pan in the refrigerator to harden.

12. Using a sharp paring knife, score the baklava ¾ of the way through, cutting diamond shapes.

13. Bake in a 375 oven until lightly brown.

14. While it is baking, boil the ingredients for the Baklava Syrup to form a flavorful syrup.
