What is MyPyramid?

The USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) has released the MyPyramid food guidance system. It represents a personalized approach to healthy eating and physical activity. Along with the new MyPyramid symbol, the system provides many options to help us make healthy food choices and to be active every day.

What is nutrition?

The process of nourishing or being nourished, especially the process by which a living organism absorbs food and uses it for growth and for replacement of tissues.

Why do chefs have to be concerned with nutrition?

People have become more aware of the fact that food nutrition plays an important role in maintaining physical health and well-being. Chefs must be aware of the nutritional value of the dishes that they create. This helps the culinary professional meet the growing needs of their customers.
