Ingredients Amounts
Cake  
Flour 1 cup
Sugar 1/2 cup
Baking Powder 2 tsp.
Salt 1/4 tsp.
Cocoa 3 Tbsp.
Vanilla 1 tsp.
Milk 1/2 cup
Butter (melted) 1/2 stick
   
Topping  
Sugar 1/2 cup
Cocoa 3 Tbsp.
Packed Brown Sugar 1/2 cup
Hot Water 1 1/2 cups
   
Method

(Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Use an 8 or 9 inch square pan.)

1. Melt the butter with the milk and vanilla in a small pan on the stove over low heat. Let cool for a minute or two.
2. Mix dry cake ingredients in a bowl.
3. Add Vanilla/Butter/Milk mixture. Mix Well.
4. Spoon batter into baking pan and smooth out with a spatula.
5. Combine all the toping ingredients except the water in a bowl.
Crush any lumps. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
6. Pour the hot water slowly over the whole top and DO NOT stir.
7. Bake for 40 minutes and let cool for 10 minutes.

To Serve, spoon into dessert dishes, spooning sauce from the bottom of the pan. May serve with Ice Cream or Whipped Cream, or both.
